HoW IT ALL STARTED

The beach is a way of life.  Sun, fun, waves and sand - with family , friends  and loved ones makes for memories to last a lifetime.  Gil is an Acoustic/Vocalist,  local to Sandbridge.  Prior to beach living, Gil grew up in Cincinnati, Oh - graduate of Archbishop Moeller High School and later The College of Mount Saint Joseph, and in later years an M.B.A from Capella University.   It was during his early years that he focused his attention and love for music playing in concert, marching and jazz band on the trumpet and piano.  He also volunteered countless hours to Catholic Churches in Cincinnati playing piano in ensembles for Catholic mass.  During his college years he developed his strength as a bass guitarist, playing in several rock bands, and yes - even a polka trio.  Gil developed a love for musicals and played  those scores throughout Cincinnati, often performing 3 week runs aboard the Showboat Majestic on the Ohio River.

Over the last 25 years Gil has spent time raising a family of four with his wife Marnie (you may see her around Sandbridge in a turquoise car - and yes, she does stop for turtles!) - sharing his life’s dedication to music through the acoustic guitar and vocals while working his day job with Newport News Shipbuilding, building the  finest ships to support our Navy.   Gil plays beach, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, country, classic rock, alternative, and yes tunes from musicals and the Frank Sinatra era.  Gil loves when audience members join in on the singing and often times brings a spare microphone for  those special moments.   Gil plays out around Virginia Beach, the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the Florida Keys whenever he gets a chance.

Gil draws his influences from Jimmy Buffett,  Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, Gordon Lightfoot, Eagles,  James Taylor, Paul Simon, John Prine, Willie Nelson, Kenny Cheney, The Beatles, Rush, R.E.M, U2, The Cure, Counting Crows, Warren Zevon, and a host of others.
